SICKLE CELL DISEASE RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL SYMPOSIUM
Professor Solomon Ofori-Acquah, the Director of the Sickle Cell Disease Genomics Network of Africa (SickleGenAfrica) will deliver the keynote address at the 12th Annual Sickle Cell Disease Research and Educational Symposium happening in Washington, DC, United States from June 15 - 17, 2018.
The symposium is organized by the Foundation for Sickle Cell Disease Research (FSCDR). The FSCDR is a comprehensive, non-profit organization that provides a platform for researchers, healthcare providers, and those living with sickle cell disease while working collaboratively with academia, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and community organizations.
The theme of the symposium is From Biology to Therapy: Improvement of Therapeutic options for clinical care in sickle cell disease.
Professor Ofori-Acquah will be speaking on his plans to set up a Center of Excellence in Africa focused on genomics in sickle cell disease. In particular, he'll talk about SickleGenAfrica and the three inter-related projects in sickle cell disease in Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria and Tanzania.
